It’s been said that ‘time flies when you’re having fun!’ That’s certainly been the case at Working Style Christchurch these past two years. During this time, the store relocated from its recognisable address of 9 years on Papanui Road in Merivale, back to the Christchurch CBD on Oxford Terrace.
Original Christchurch founder and current Working Style Creative Director Karl Clausen returned to the city after sixteen years away to navigate the transition to the new address, and work alongside its tight knit team of Store Manager Amanda Vine and Sales Associate Liam Henderson.
Due to the popularity in demand for both Working Style's ready-to-wear collections and Made to Measure tailoring, the Christchurch store recently underwent an exciting refurbishment to provide more warming and relaxing spaces for consultations. Painting the building façade a chalk white has also given the store an identifiable look and feel.
Karl says “Working Style as company has certainly evolved – especially these past 5 years from the tailoring centric business it was renowned for. We are now a contemporary clothing company with an expertise in tailoring. Our product mix is now incredibly diverse – casual jackets, chinos, and t-shirts sit alongside our considered collection of suits, sports-coats and accessories. We are seeing firsthand the growth in clients visiting us from throughout the South Island because of this which has been incredibly humbling and heartwarming.”
However, after 22 years of being a mainstay in the Christchurch fashion landscape - what hasn’t changed is that the Working Style team always provide an authentic and professional shopping experience accompanied with great hospitality. Karl says, "we love looking after our clients. We always offer friendly and knowledgeable guidance to anyone who pays a visit. Some people view shopping for clothing with apprehension, but a visit to our store should be filled with anticipation, and we are all for that!”
